The Mt. Juliet Help Center has been one hopping place the past few months! Between eight weeks of our Summer Food Program, the recent Backpack & School Supply Giveaway, and the regular day-to-day mission of keeping client families fed and their utilities on, the mission of the Help Center has kept everyone here on their toes.
This year the Summer Food Program once again helped families keep their kids fed and healthy while they weren’t receiving free and reduced-price breakfasts and lunches at school. Exactly 600 food boxes containing four days’ worth of breakfast, lunch, and snack items were distributed over the eight weeks of the program, along with additional goodies for the kids at each pickup. These boxes contained things such as milk and 100% juice boxes, peanut butter, oatmeal, cereal, raisins, kids’ pastas, applesauce and fruit cups, granola bars, and more! The goal is to make the food in these boxes as healthy as possible while remaining appealing to all ages as well as accessible to even the youngest children participating. We are so grateful that 8,832 pounds of food made it into the hands of so many kids!
The 2025 Backpack & School Supply Giveaway wrapped up having served a total of 313 local school kids! These kids received new backpacks as well as school supplies tailored to the supply list published by their specific schools and grades. Thanks to donations from several local churches and organizations, quite a few trips to the store, and lots of hard work, these kids will hopefully return to school with quality supplies, a clean slate, and a fresh outlook!
The Help Center appreciates all of the donations and contributions that helped make these programs possible and successful. We couldn’t do any of it without your support—thank you for helping us care for our community in such meaningful ways!
