What’s Needed Wednesday
Wondering what we need most…right now?
Check here each Wednesday for a list of the items we’re running low on. We also post this list on our Facebook and Instagram pages each week. (Look for the yellow sticky note!) While any food, hygiene, or basic cleaning supply donation is always welcome, What’s Needed Wednesday allows us to answer the often-asked question, “What is the Help Center in need of the most right now?”
Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours (Monday – Friday / 8:30am – 12:30pm). Donations of food and hygiene products can be dropped off in the green and white Second Harvest barrels located near the Customer Service counter at both MJ Kroger locations.
If there’s one thing we know, it’s that every donation of any size adds up! Thank you for giving back to this incredible community that we live in!

The question we’ve heard most often this week is, “What do you need the most right now?”
The way this community has rallied in response to the disruption in SNAP benefits has been nothing short of incredible. When there’s a sudden need, Wilson County always shows up, and you do it in a big way!
Right now (and likely for a while), we’re asking for non-perishables in general, though our shelves are currently well-stocked with green beans and corn. We can also use hygiene products and fresh produce; we do have cold storage available for any produce that needs refrigeration.
To help offset the reduction in SNAP benefits, the Help Center has increased the amount of food each family receives whether already a client or new to our services. This has only been possible because of your generosity and the dedication of our amazing volunteers, who are putting in extra hours to handle the surge in donations. We cannot convey the positive impact that you’re having on families who are already struggling to make ends meet.
Our community is strongest when we care for one another. Thank you for continuing to provide help and hope to your neighbors in need!
