PURPOSE OF THE HELP CENTER

MISSION:     “The Mt Juliet Help Center seeks to provide emergency assistance for people who find themselves in uncommon circumstances; to help them achieve stability by offering a helping hand, so that the next hand reaching out to others could be their own.”

We, the staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors of the Mt Juliet Help Center recognize that our purpose is to provide short-term assistance to help people in need and to help get them back on their feet as quickly as possible. The Help Center is a faith-based, non-denominational, non-profit organization. The Help Center is not affiliated with any one church or denomination. We believe our ministry is to serve as God has instructed regarding those less fortunate. No client shall be turned away because of race, sex, color, religious preference, sexual orientation or national origin.

We recognize that the Help Center shall function as a coordinating center for churches in the area, as well as other organizations that are aware of people in need. Clients are also free to come to us of their own volition without having a referral. The Help Center will maintain accurate information on clients and that all information shall be kept confidential. The Help Center will strive to treat all who come to us with dignity, respect, empathy and courtesy.

We also recognize that the Help Center is an integral member of the Mt Juliet and West Wilson County community. As such we will strive to be a good citizen and a good neighbor. The Help Center will participate in community events as it can and assist with community needs and crises. We will work closely with the community churches, schools, and organizations in providing assistance. We will be deeply appreciative of any and all volunteers, monetary contributions, food contributions and other donations and assistance that we receive.

We realize that there are clients that require longer term care and assistance. We will treat these needs on an individual basis. We will allow certain individuals to obtain food from the Center for longer periods. Although we are not a welfare agency (nor a crisis center for emotionally troubled people), we will make every effort to work with them to solve their needs. The Help Center will maintain good working relationships and up to date information on other agencies that can better assist with long-term care and will diligently work with these other entities to assist everyone who comes through our doors. We will maintain confidential records on our clients and will secure their permission before discussing their situation with any other entity.

The Help Center will assure that all donated canned goods and foodstuff are undamaged, safe and edible for all clients. Food received from food drives will be checked and sorted by the Center’s staff and volunteers to maintain this quality.
